A Play
Gerry Stratton has organized a family dinner with his sons Glyn and Adam at his favourite restaurant to celebrate his wife Laura’s birthday. Glyn is with his long-suffering wife Stephanie, he has recently had an affair but their marriage seems to be sounder than it was. Adam appears with his new girlfriend Maureen, an outrageous hairdresser and they are both eager to impress. The play starts with the happy banter of a family party, but slowly, the skeletons in the cupboard begin to emerge. We discover that Glyn’s unfaithfulness knows no bounds, the family business has been hit by the recession and that Laura has been unfaithful to her husband.
At the end of the meal, time divides; Gerry and Laura stay in the present, Glyn’s story moves forward and Adam’s moves backward to his first hilarious encounter with Maureen.
